Photos of Shana Moulton + Lucky Dragons at Thirty Days NY
- May 7, 2010
As you can probably tell by the pictures the closing party was just as much fun as the opening. Thanks to everyone in NY who came out over the past month and to everyone else worldwide for checking in on the site. We’ll be posting more photos and videos of the final performances as well as some special extras in the coming days. Stay tuned!

Lucky Dragons
- May 5, 2010

We’re hesitant to call Los Angeles-based Lucky Dragons a band, at the expense of downplaying their more wide-ranging ambitions. They’re more of a singular, oh we don’t know, unit. (They also moonlight as the collaborative mural project Sumi Ink Club.) While this group typically plays on the floor producing all manner of sounds with instruments you were probably exposed to as a child in music class, perhaps needless to say, Lucky Dragons do not sound anything like that music class. On May 6, these sonic sleuths will team up with visual mad scientist Shana Moulton at Thirty Days for what is surely to be a memorable experience.

Thirty Days Guest Blogger Series: Gorilla vs. Bear
- April 23, 2010

Every Friday we choose a blog or blogger that we think is making an impact on the world of arts and culture, and having them come on board to guest curate the site for a day. This week we couldn’t be more stoked to present music picks from Chris Cantalini of Gorilla vs. Bear!
Gorilla vs. Bear Picks: Gauntlet Hair
- April 23, 2010
Gauntlet Hair is Andy R. and Craig Nice from Lafayette, Colorado. These dudes follow no trends, and they make music that sounds like nothing else being done right now. I am so obsessed with this unstoppable jam that I am putting it out on my new record label. Expect a full-length from these two in the coming months:
Gorilla vs. Bear Picks: SLEEP ∞ OVER
- April 23, 2010

One of the most intriguing new bands from our home state of Texas is Austin girl-group (girl-gang?) SLEEP ∞ OVER. In addition to curating a stunning image gallery on their tumblr, Stefanie Franciotti, Christa Palazzolo, and Sarah Brown create occasionally ominous and thoroughly entrancing dark love songs that manage to convey a sort of spooky, haunted sweetness. These two dreamy lo-fi lullabies appear on the group’s new cassette-only release, out now on Night People:

Gorilla vs. Bear Picks: The Samps
- April 23, 2010

“F.X.N.C.” is a retro-futuristic lo-fi funk jam from L.A.’s The Samps, the rad new project from Len Bias fan Cole MGN, who also happens to be a member of album-of-the-year-frontrunners Ariel Pink’s Haunted Graffiti. The Samps’ self-titled debut EP is out next month:
